Finding Your Ideal job
There are two types of networking: the informal and the formal. The informal includes contacting everyone you know and asking for a job. If you?re too shy, casually mention that you are looking for a job. At the least, this will allow your contacts to keep you in mind if an opportunity comes up for a job that they think will suit you.

The formal type of networking can includes business events that are organized by a social body or association. Formal can also come in the form of speaking with former colleagues and associates.
Here are some tips to help you find a job through networking:

1. Evaluate yourself. Take a test that examines your strengths and weaknesses. Figure out the areas you have to work hard on. Brush up on your interview skills in front of a mirror or with a friend. Ask yourself common questions to make sure you prepare an answer prior to your interview.

2. Have small talk. While it?s important to focus on formal topics, it?s also good to throw in some casual conversation into the mix to help loosen people up. The more comfortable someone feels around you, the more comfortable they are with sharing information.

3. Keep business cards handy wherever you go. Spontaneous meetings can come at the most unexpected times so it?s always great to be prepared.

4. Organize your network: Keep all the business cards of the people you meet in order. Remember to keep track of people you meet and telephone numbers of organizations that organize such networking events.

5. Market yourself. Remember, no one can refer to you a job if they don?t know you?re looking for one. Put the word out that you are actively seeking a position in the specific industry that you?re looking at. Practice your elevator pitch so that you can summarize what you?re looking for and why you?re qualified in under 30 seconds.
